GTFS supports new Traditional Smoked Fish campaign
The Grimsby Traditional Fish Smokers (GTFS) Group is one of the primary industry based supporting organisations for a new project lead by the Grimsby Fish Merchants Association to raise awareness about traditional methods of curing fish.
Funded by the Seafish Authority and European Fisheries Fund, the project was launched in Autumn at the Restaurant Show in London and at a celebration of regional food in Lincoln. Each event saw fish supplied by Sealord Caistor Ltd and information about the smoking process from Alfred Enderby Ltd, both members of the GTFS group.
The project is also utilising new media to educate consumers about the heritage of traditional smoked fish, the health benefits of seafood and other key issues such as the difference between hot and cold methods of smoking fish.
With an informative website and regular updates on Facebook and Twitter the online campaign aims to become a nexus of information about curing fish the traditional way.
